West Branch Children's Film Festival Workshop with Richard Brauer

As a supporter of the West Branch Children's Film Festival (which takes place July 31-August 2), we here at the Initiative want our readers to be aware that award winning Michigan filmmaker Richard Brauer will be teaching a workshop on filmmaking as part of the Film Festival Workshop series in West Branch, Michigan.
The workshop takes place Saturday, January 17, 2009 at the West Branch Library on N. 4th St. in downtown West Branch at 1pm. Admission is $5 and Mr. Brauer will be explaining how to get into film making and how to make films (there's far more to it than that, but I don't have the information at this moment).
Richard Brauer has worked on "Frozen Stupid" in Houghton Lake, "Mr. Art Critic" on Mackinac Island, and most recognized with "Escanaba in da Moonlight" with fellow Michigander Jeff Daniels.
To view more details on the workshop, go to http://www.wbcff.com/
and Richard Brauer's site is http://www.brauerproductions.com/

This is the first workshop in what the festival hopes to be a series of workshops leading up to the Children's Film Festival.

Welcome to West Branch (Film Initiative)!

This is the first site for the West Branch Film Initiative, based in Ogemaw County, Michigan.
As our mission to bring filmmakers to our community marches on, we will bring our readers updates and photos. The committee to bring forth this initiative consists of alot of passionate believers in our cause. Our fervent hope is that the West Branch area becomes a stomping ground for movie and television makers, bringing more culture and life into our growing community. We want the youth of our area to be proud of where they are from and to one day return from college to find jobs in this community, built on the addition of the film industry into our county.
